Frequently asked questions

What are premarket movers?

Stocks making outsized moves in the premarket session, most often because they reported earnings after the previous close or before the open. This page focuses on earnings-driven movers and shows the move options had priced in beforehand.

What are after-hours movers?

Stocks moving sharply after the 4pm ET close, typically on earnings released after market close (AMC). The first full-session reaction is generally measured the next trading day.

What does it mean when a stock moves more than the implied move?

The options market prices an expected earnings move (the implied move). When the actual reaction exceeds it, straddle buyers won and sellers lost; when the stock stays inside it, the options were overpriced in hindsight. Neither outcome predicts the next report.
